Luke 6,1-5

by Fr. Luis A. Zazano
Luke 6, 1-5

Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Luke 6,1-5.

While Jesus was going through a field of grain on a sabbath, his disciples were picking the heads of grain, rubbing them in their hands, and eating them.
Some Pharisees said, “Why are you doing what is unlawful on the sabbath?”
Jesus said to them in reply, “Have you not read what David did when he and those (who were) with him were hungry?
(How) he went into the house of God, took the bread of offering, which only the priests could lawfully eat, ate of it, and shared it with his companions.”
Then he said to them, “The Son of Man is lord of the sabbath.”

Common Sense

If there is one sense that ceases to be common, it’s common sense. How many times, instead of making life easier and more enjoyable for others, do we complicate things? God does not want us to complicate our lives.

Our faith teaches us that we are invited to live a simple and easier life when He is our center. When we start to complicate matters, we forget what God has called us to; a simple life with Him. We tend to go to extremes that hurt more than heal. We need to make the Church more fraternal; a family atmosphere where love abounds. Instead of judging others, look to Christ and love them. They will know we are Christians by our love, not by our lack of common sense.

God bless you in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. And don’t forget Heaven is our goal.
