Luke 13,18-21

Luke-13-18-21

Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Luke 13,18-21.

Jesus said, “What is the Kingdom of God like? To what can I compare it?
It is like a mustard seed that a person took and planted in the garden. When it was fully grown, it became a large bush and ‘the birds of the sky dwelt in its branches.'”
Again he said, “To what shall I compare the kingdom of God?
It is like yeast that a woman took and mixed in with three measures of wheat flour until the whole batch of dough was leavened.”

Life in abundance

1) A small grain: is what we Christians are in this society, look what 12 crazy Jesus’ lovers did, they took the gospel to unknown places; look what the Madman of Assisi did in converting the Church from within; is crazy to think of evangelizing especially when the job is too much for just a few to do it, but history reminds us that it can be done. We are few, weak, small, sinners without experience, but it is here that God’s grace is manifested. In our weakness the work of God can be seen. Just have a willing and praying heart. With God and our simple faith we can achieve the impossible.

2) The birds in the sky: It is here where we find so many people who can shelter in the Church that is alive and present. There are many good-hearted people who do not yet know the love of God and need to take refuge in a world that strikes and hurts. Today, God reminds us that we must welcome many innocent and beaten up people in need of feeling loved and wanted. We have to be that common house, that home where one feels good, alive, cheerful and authentic. You and me have the mission of being that Church-family and not a church-company.

3) The dough: We are not in a Christian Society today, there are many who do not know God, nor the Sacraments or even what God can do in our lives. Many Christians will receive the Sacraments without knowing what they are or what it refers to. We cannot take for granted we are not called to do something, it is time to remember we are called to evangelize this society and teach who Jesus is. Taking into account today many do not know who Jesus is and see the Church only as an institution where priests and the Pope is found, it is important to question ourselves how much do you know about our religion? Could we tell the 5 fundamental things of the Christian religion? Let’s get on with it, taking Jesus to those people for them to have life in abundance.

God bless you in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. And don’t forget: heaven is our goal.

God Bless You!
