Luke 17, 1-6

Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Luke 17,1-6

Jesus said to his disciples, “Things that cause sin will inevitably occur, but woe to the person through whom they occur.
It would be better for him if a millstone were put around his neck and he be thrown into the sea than for him to cause one of these little ones to sin.
Be on your guard! If your brother sins, rebuke him; and if he repents, forgive him.
And if he wrongs you seven times in one day and returns to you seven times saying, ‘I am sorry,’ you should forgive him.”
And the apostles said to the Lord, “Increase our faith.”
The Lord replied, “If you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you would say to (this) mulberry tree, ‘Be uprooted and planted in the sea,’ and it would obey you.

Avoid scandalising. Dare to forgive

1) Scandal: This is something that concerns evangelist Lucas a lot: the scandal that we can leave to society. We see that Jesus addresses his disciples and those who follow Him and invites them not to scandalise. Scandalon comes from a Greek word that means what causes indignation. It is “he who has no sins cast the first stone” considering we love to accuse everyone. Jesus refers to those who like to scandalise, who love to get in shock. Today Jesus is telling you to penetrate Him and let Him live in you so you can see and love your brother, and others as He sees and loves them, that way we can understand them better.

2) Reprimand and forgive: take care and be close to one and other. We shouldn’t destroy someone commenting others of his failure. We should be a support and if necessary come to that person and do a fraternal correction to help that person rectify to gain back its dignity. We have the responsability of accompany, relieve, encourage and bring back the person to life.

3) Forgiveness: Is a process and a path. All of us have to fight hard to overcome wounds and grudges that hit our minds and hearts. There are people who hurt us in life and it becomes hard for is because it leaves an affect in us: grief.

Let us ask Jesus today to help us forgive to continue living this life with strength and fight to achieve happiness and not go way to resentment and pain. May His Spirit comfort us.
