Luke 17, 26 – 37

by Fr. Luis A. Zazano
Luke 17, 26-37

Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Luke 17,26-37

Jesus said to his disciples: “As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be in the days of the Son of Man;
they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage up to the day that Noah entered the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all.
Similarly, as it was in the days of Lot: they were eating, drinking, buying, selling, planting, building;
on the day when Lot left Sodom, fire and brimstone rained from the sky to destroy them all.
So it will be on the day the Son of Man is revealed.
On that day, a person who is on the housetop and whose belongings are in the house must not go down to get them, and likewise a person in the field must not return to what was left behind.
Remember the wife of Lot.
Whoever seeks to preserve his life will lose it, but whoever loses it will save it.
I tell you, on that night there will be two people in one bed; one will be taken, the other left.
And there will be two women grinding meal together; one will be taken, the other left.”

Different Times

1) Time: You know that everything in life has a time everything has a moment. Take a look at your life in order to discern the things that you used to do and see that they may not be right for you anymore. Carefully consider the circumstances of your life. This should be the same with your relationship with God.

Take a look at your relationship with Him. There is a moment for everything. Perhaps when you were young you served the church in a certain way when you had lots of time, but now that you are married you can’t serve the same way . However, you can serve in a different way because there is a time and place for everything.

2) The situation: Jesus is already speaking to us in an apocalyptic tone. It is here that he invites you to look for your brother who does not yet know God. To find those who are going through a difficult moment in life and don’t know how to handle it. Do not grow weary in this work of yours! Be strong and keep moving forward. Remember that we have been called to help save our brothers and sisters. No one can save themselves alone.

3) The end: No one knows the end… All we know is that death will someday knock on our door. That’s when we end one stage of life and begin another.

God bless you.
