Matthew 11,16-19

Luke 11, 16-19

Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Matthew 11,16-19

Jesus said to the crowds: “To what shall I compare this generation? It is like children who sit in marketplaces and call to one another,
‘We played the flute for you, but you did not dance, we sang a dirge but you did not mourn.’
For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they said, ‘He is possessed by a demon.’
The Son of Man came eating and drinking and they said, ‘Look, he is a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners.’ But wisdom is vindicated by her works.”

Never satisfied

1) This generation. These days mankind is undergoing great, accelerated changes. Just have a look at your children: they have another view of life ; they perceive things differently. There is a great difference in your children’s attitude towards life if they are thirty years old, twenty, or fifteen… Some people talk about a “light” version of men or women; Enrique Rojas wrote a book called ‘The Light Man’. He refers to being light, just like food or drink which is considered light, as having less substance or consistency. It’s like everything is taken in passing, just superficially and without depth. Now days everything is ‘light’: a marriage, the priesthood, your responsibility at work… Watch out! You are surrounded by this… Check whether there is consistency in what you do, how you do it, and in what you say … Practice what you preach!

2) Dissatisfaction. When negativity appears, it destroys everything around you and leads you to become a pessimistic person. A person who is always trying to find fault with everything or reading too much into everything; a person who is not satisfied with anything or anyone. Obviously, imagination plays a big part in this. Today, ask yourself whether you are dissatisfied with everything and everyone around you; or could it be that you really are disappointed in yourself and you are having trouble accepting that.

3) Wisdom. In time the truth emerges. Your actions must spring from truth, that truth that is in your heart. The “TRUTH” with capital letters, because it is the truth that comes from God and takes you to Him. It allows you to gain wisdom. Today Christ proposes that you should prepare your heart to be consistent and assume your identity accepting that life is not life if you live solely to satisfy others .You can’t please everyone. Rather, it is by pleasing God and doing everything for His greatest glory that you grow in truth and your real identity develops.
Let us ask God that we may live in truth and know that we live for His greater glory, not to satisfy everyone around us. God bless you in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
Always remember, Heaven is our goal.
