John 1, 35-42

by Fr. Luis A. Zazano
Luke 1, 35-42

Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint John 1,35-42

John was standing with two of his disciples,
and as he watched Jesus walk by, he said, “Behold, the Lamb of God.”
The two disciples heard what he said and followed Jesus.
Jesus turned and saw them following him and said to them, “What are you looking for?” They said to him, “Rabbi” (which translated means Teacher), “where are you staying?”
He said to them,”Come, and you will see.” So they went and saw where he was staying, and they stayed with him that day. It was about four in the afternoon.
Andrew, the brother of Simon Peter, was one of the two who heard John and followed Jesus.
He first found his own brother Simon and told him, “We have found the Messiah” (which is translated Anointed).
Then he brought him to Jesus. Jesus looked at him and said, “You are Simon the son of John; you will be called Kephas” (which is translated Peter).

If they tell where Jesus is, what are you doing to look for Him?

1) What do you want? This is the question that Jesus asks today. What do you want in life and where are you going? You must be decisive and sure of yourself. Otherwise the doubt or indecision will make you forget who you are and what you want. You do things by routine and wait for other to tell you what to do. Be careful with narcissism because it can blind you and make you believe illusions. Think hard and answer the question what do you want in life?

2) They stayed: When Jesus appears he urges you to stay with Him. Let this encounter with Jesus mark you deeply like it did for John when he remembers their encounter. Meet Jesus because this is a wonderful experience you will never forget.

3) The name: Jesus changes the name of one of his disciples, today Jesus asks you to remain strong in your faith because we live in a confused world. Don´t be afraid. He chose you.

God bless you in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
Always remember Heaven is our Goal.
