John 4,43-54

John 4, 43-54

Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint John 4,43-54

At that time Jesus left [Samaria] for Galilee.
For Jesus himself testified that a prophet has no honor in his native place.
When he came into Galilee, the Galileans welcomed him, since they had seen all he had done in Jerusalem at the feast; for they themselves had gone to the feast.
Then he returned to Cana in Galilee, where he had made the water wine. Now there was a royal official whose son was ill in Capernaum.
When he heard that Jesus had arrived in Galilee from Judea, he went to him and asked him to come down and heal his son, who was near death.
Jesus said to him, “Unless you people see signs and wonders, you will not believe.”
The royal official said to him, “Sir, come down before my child dies.”
Jesus said to him, “You may go; your son will live.” The man believed what Jesus said to him and left.
While he was on his way back, his slaves met him and told him that his boy would live.
He asked them when he began to recover. They told him, “The fever left him yesterday, about one in the afternoon.”
The father realized that just at that time Jesus had said to him, “Your son will live,” and he and his whole household came to believe.
(Now) this was the second sign Jesus did when he came to Galilee from Judea.

Go, son live

1) Galilee: now everyone receives Him well because they have seen what Jesus can do. Our disbelief is strongly present in our lives. God is constantly giving you signs so you can believe in Him. But think about it. What things lead to believe that God exists? Do you believe in the existence of God? Why? Reflect on it.

2) Go: there are tough and difficult times in our lives, where we seek God for Him to appear, react and to perform as we need. We want him to manifest Himself in our lives. Today God asks of your faith and work on improving your faith. How, you might ask? Taking the time to talk to Him alone, reading the catechism and when in doubt ask a priest. Life is not simple. There are obstacles that lead to despair like the man in today´s gospel. He is a man of high rank where obstacles and difficulties appear. It does not matter how much money you have or the life you lead. We all go through difficulties, and therefore it is important to see the love of God.

3) He and his whole family: it is a difficult task, but we must work in our personal faith and also the faith of our family. We have lost a lot of territory in this aspect. Why? Because we do not pray at the table each time, we eat to bless our food, or pray to God before we go to bed and our family does not do either. We do not go to Sunday mass together. Think about it. You have to be clever and find a way to get yourself and your family in tune this Lent. You have start by blessing your food every time you eat. You can start slowly but start today. Faith is proposed not imposed. You can achieve it by being astute and creative.

God bless you in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. And remember, Heaven is our goal.
