John 16,29-33

Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint John 16,29-33

The disciples said to Jesus, “Now you are talking plainly, and not in any figure of speech.
Now we realize that you know everything and that you do not need to have anyone question you. Because of this we believe that you came from God.”
Jesus answered them, “Do you believe now?
Behold, the hour is coming and has arrived when each of you will be scattered to his own home and you will leave me alone. But I am not alone, because the Father is with me.
I have told you this so that you might have peace in me. In the world you will have trouble, but take courage, I have conquered the world.”

I am not alone

1) Pay attention to the person: today, I propose to think about choices. God invites you to look at your brother or sister, to listen and pay attention to what they are expressing. I invite you to listen to others, leave the cellphone off and listen to a family member. The person that opens their heart to tell you something important about their life’s obstacles or miseries. This is an opportunity not to judge, but rather to accompany and truly listen. You pray to the Holy Spirit to enlighten you, to be able to listen carefully, not to judge, but be good company. Please do not act as a judge or that listening is not your job either. Lend a helping hand. We are after all Christians and our attitude should reflect it. More than the idea or choice of life, look within others to feel valued and not withdrawn. I propose that you lend your helping hand today.

2) Look for the truth: It applies to you and me, helping others find the truth. We love to fool ourselves in order not to dig deeper within us and see what is really happening. Have the honesty to speak the truth. Going around a problem, is not solving it. Sometimes we even prefer to remain silent, not to deal with difficult situations that are hurting us. If you get the chance to accompany a brother or sister, help them deal with the heart of the matter and dig deep to resolve where they are weak or might need help. If it happens to you, do not ignore it, face it and if you cannot, ask for help. But the most important part is, to recognize and assume the responsibility in your life.

3) Moving forward: Once you have listened and paid attention to your brother or sister, once you have dealt with the heart of the matter, you must think where you‘re going and what you want to accomplish in life, or if you are a listening ear to give wise advice. It is to analyze what you are doing and why you are doing it. More than sensibilities, what you like or not, it is looking for the greater purpose in life. If you lose your way, the hits that you receive will weaken you and you will not be able to get up. To be clear, if we fall during our path in life, this happens to everyone sooner or later, we have Mary and Jesus as examples on what to do. The most important part is to get up again and try once more to reach the happiness we all deserve. To listen, pay attention to others, help focus on the main issues with honesty and they will lead you on the right track again. These three aspects will help you lead a plentiful life.

May God bless you in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit
Always remember heaven is our goal.
