Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Matthew 5,13-16
Jesus said to his disciples: “You are the salt of the earth. But if salt loses its taste, with what can it be seasoned? It is no longer good for anything but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.
You are the light of the world. A city set on a mountain cannot be hidden.
Nor do they light a lamp and then put it under a bushel basket; it is set on a lampstand, where it gives light to all in the house.
Just so, your light must shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your heavenly Father.”
You are light. Illuminate!
1) You are salt: Salt is for flavour. Of course, it must be the right amount; too little and you can become bland … too much and you might cause hypertension!
You have to put some flavour into life, but just the right amount. Excess is bad … You must learn that no excess does you any good . Learn to savour life so that your life gives flavour to those around you. It is all about living life abundantly and joyfully, so that it is nice to be near you and share things with you.
2) You are light: When you flavour life and you enjoy living, you become light. You light up all around you and you know how to remove the darkness in others. We cannot give what we don’t have. Look at that light you have and pass it on. I can assure you that you will remove the darkness from many people. I tell you that the electric socket is “helping others” and the voltage is prayer.
3) Bring the light ; do not hide it. Don’t believe what people say about you; believe what God says about you and remember what He created you for. So come on, fight! You are a spotlight … maybe those around you made you believe you are just a small table lamp, but you are a bigger than that…you are a Spotlight! Illuminate!
