Matthew 7,21-29

Matthew 7 21-29

Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Matthew 7,21-29

Jesus said to his disciples: “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father in heaven.
Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name? Did we not drive out demons in your name? Did we not do mighty deeds in your name?’
Then I will declare to them solemnly, ‘I never knew you. Depart from me, you evildoers.’
Everyone who listens to these words of mine and acts on them will be like a wise man who built his house on rock.
The rain fell, the floods came, and the winds blew and buffeted the house. But it did not collapse; it had been set solidly on rock.
And everyone who listens to these words of mine but does not act on them will be like a fool who built his house on sand.
The rain fell, the floods came, and the winds blew and buffeted the house. And it collapsed and was completely ruined.”
When Jesus finished these words, the crowds were astonished at his teaching,
for he taught them as one having authority, and not as their scribes.

Listen, take Christ to others, and live the Word

1) Listening. Listening to God requires practicing what we have heard. “Living your faith” is the union of what you believe and how you act. It is also remembering that our actions are consequences of listening to the Word of God; what I have heard, and what has remained in my heart leads me to act accordingly.

2) Taking Christ to others. You might have noticed that Pope Francis reminds us frequently that we Christians are not a “Non Governmental Organization”… what distinguishes us from a NGO is that we bring Christ to others in every action we do. When we visit someone, when we help someone, when we give food to someone in need, Christ is in our action. We are not social workers, we are Christians who bring Jesus to others.

3) Living the Word. It refers to putting into practice a part of the formula of the ordination to priesthood . It goes like this: “Believe what you read. Think about what you believe. Teach what you believe. Practice what you teach.” This can help you a lot in your prayers and in your life.
If you’re listening now, I invite you to practice what you’ve learned by doing a concrete action for a brother or sister, showing Christ to them, before this day ends. Take heart and experience the Word of God you’ve heard.

God bless you in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
And remember: Heaven is our goal!

Your contribution help us to continue with our mission
God Bless You!
