Matthew 7,6.12-14

Matthew 7 6, 12 14

Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Matthew 7,6.12-14

Jesus said to his disciples: “Do not give what is holy to dogs, or throw your pearls before swine, lest they trample them underfoot, and turn and tear you to pieces.
Do to others whatever you would have them do to you. This is the law and the prophets.”
“Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the road broad that leads to destruction, and those who enter through it are many.
How narrow the gate and constricted the road that leads to life. And those who find it are few.”

Treat others the way you want to be treated

1) Sacred things. It is important to know that there are things in life that are sacred and to which we must give the proper value of sacred things. That is why I invite you to take care of what is sacred: Pray well, attend Mass in an appropriate manner, care for and respect things that are sacred. Remember to dust the image of the Virgin Mary or the Sacred Heart of Jesus that you have at home – if it has been blessed, it is sacred. Take care of sacred things and teach others to respect them too. One thing that moves me when I celebrate mass in parish churches in the countryside, is seeing how older people take off their hats when they enter the church, as a sign of respect. Moreover, they even put on their best clothes to attend mass. Maybe, with little gestures you can teach and educate those around you to respect holy things.

2) Others. Today Jesus reminds us again of the importance of our brothers and sisters. Your neighbor is that person who is next to you and that you must care for and help. Your neighbor is your closest point of action in order to reach heaven. In Christianity, one’s neighbor is the face of God on earth; he is my Jesus Christ here on Earth.

3) The door. It is clear that Christian life is not easy and is very demanding. It is through humility and simplicity that one can enter paradise. A Christian’s path is to remember that greatness is God’s and that we are tiny beings who are going towards God. Just look up at the sky at night and gaze at the stars. When you see that immensity, you understand that you are a little dot in this universe. But when you see the cross, you realize how great you are in His kingdom.

God bless you in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
