John 11 19-27

Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint John 11,19-27

Many of the Jews had come to Martha and Mary to comfort them about their brother [Lazarus, who had died].
When Martha heard that Jesus was coming, she went to meet him; but Mary sat at home.
Martha said to Jesus, “Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died.
But even now I know that whatever you ask of God, God will give you.”
Jesus said to her, “Your brother will rise.”
Martha said to him, “I know he will rise, in the resurrection on the last day.”
Jesus told her, “I am the resurrection and the life; whoever believes in me, even if he dies, will live,
and everyone who lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?”
She said to him, “Yes, Lord. I have come to believe that you are the Messiah, the Son of God, the one who is coming into the world.”

1) The condolences: in the hard moments in life, we encounter people that are by our side, some to simply to fulfill their duty and other to truly be partners in the hardships. There are times we blame society because how we live and the obstacles that come our way, but you must remember that society is made up of people including yourself. Today´s world is indifferent, look at how many people get mugged on the street and nothing gets done. We live in a word where everybody ensures their well being not caring for others. We walk on the street only looking at our cellphones or with headphones, not caring what goes on around us. We must pray God for a society where people belong and look out for others.

2) Martha: She experiments the death of her brother, the terrible pain of losing someone you love. Only faith can encourage us to go on and lift our spirits. It is hard and difficult because these wounds are not cured with medicine and the only way to heal them is with faith and trust in God.

3) To believe: Jesus invites you today to believe and trust Him. Leave yourself in the hands of God and let Him be your companion. I would like to share with you an old prayer for those people who have left us or are about to leave us,
“I ask you Almighty God, my dear brother (or sister), and I place you in the hands of the one of whom you are a creature, so that after having suffered a death sentence, dictated against all men, you return to your Creator who formed from the earth. Now that your soul is going to leave this world, the glorious choirs of the Angels and the Apostles come out to receive you, who must judge you; The victorious army of the generous martyrs come to meet you; surround yourself with the glittering crowd of confessors; embrace with joy the radiant choir of the virgins, and be forever admitted with the holy patriarchs in the mansion of blessed peace. Be encouraged with great hope, Saint Joseph, most sweet Patron of the dying.

May the Holy Mother of God turn to you, benign eyes. Present yourself to Jesus Christ with a face full of sweetness, and place yourself in the bosom of those who surround the throne of His divinity. Do not experience the horror of darkness, nor the torments of eternal torture. Flee from you satan and all his satellites. Deliver yourself from torments, Jesus Christ was crucified for you; help me Jesus Christ, son of the living God, in the always pleasant garden of his paradise, and true shepherd as He is, recognize yourself for one of his sheep. Forgive yourself mercifully all your sins; put yourself at his right among his chosen ones, so that you see your redeemer face to face, and always dwelling happily at his side, you manage to contemplate the sovereign majesty and enjoy the sweet sight of God, admitted in the number of the blessed, by all the centuries of the centuries.

So be it.”
God bless you in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
