Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Matthew 13,18-23
Jesus said to His disciples: “Hear then the parable of the sower.
The seed sown on the path is the one who hears the word of the kingdom without understanding it, and the evil one comes and steals away what was sown in his heart.
The seed sown on rocky ground is the one who hears the word and receives it at once with joy.
But he has no root and lasts only for a time. When some tribulation or persecution comes because of the word, he immediately falls away.
The seed sown among thorns is the one who hears the word, but then worldly anxiety and the lure of riches choke the word and it bears no fruit.
But the seed sown on rich soil is the one who hears the word and understands it, who indeed bears fruit and yields a hundred or sixty or thirtyfold.”
1) The seed: Jesus is that seed that someone once planted in your heart. It could have been your grandmother, your mom or dad, a friend ; in short, someone sowed the seed of Jesus in your heart. This seed (that is Jesus) grows in you, grows with you, and grows along side of you. Allow the seed to grow and bear fruit… allow Jesus to bear fruit through you. Without Him, we cannot do anything.
2) Bacteria: There are “bacteria” like activism and narcissism, that the devil plants in you. This selfish pride planted in you can take you away from reality and it burns up the seed in your heart (that is Jesus). The seed gets burned with the same “spotlight” that you have pointing at yourself; with your own desire to always be in the spotlight.
The fruits of those who work together with the Lord are plentiful and abundant. Caring for this seed that is Jesus and allowing yourself to grow closer to Him, leads you to bear fruit that would satisfy multitudes! This fruit satisfies, delights, and strengthens.
Now, can you tell me five specific fruits you have produced this week? If you can, you are taking good care of your seed.
GOD bless you in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Heaven is our goal.
