Luke 6,6-11

Luke 6 6-11

Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Luke 6,6-11

On a certain sabbath Jesus went into the synagogue and taught, and there was a man there whose right hand was withered.
The scribes and the Pharisees watched him closely to see if he would cure on the sabbath so that they might discover a reason to accuse him.
But he realized their intentions and said to the man with the withered hand, “Come up and stand before us.” And he rose and stood there.
Then Jesus said to them, “I ask you, is it lawful to do good on the sabbath rather than to do evil, to save life rather than to destroy it?”
Looking around at them all, he then said to him, “Stretch out your hand.” He did so and his hand was restored.
But they became enraged and discussed together what they might do to Jesus.

Must be judged or help?

1) Right hand paralyzed: as you might know, the majority of the population is right-handed, this is the hand that is strong and is able to accomplish many tasks. The spiritual paralysis that overcomes us can lead us to become immobilized in life. You become dependent and you are unable to do what you want or should. When one falls in this paralysis you become the operator of someone else´s life and you do not live your own path. You live to satisfy others. Please do not lose your liberty or your life. We are called upon to share, accompany and help one another. We cannot fall into being absorbed by the life of others. If you live a paralyzed life, ask God for a miracle to recover your own life, to decide for yourself and grow in your own path of life. On the other hand, if you are the person that is paralyzing others, ask God to help you let go of this bad habit. You must help others reach their own plenitude, but not overwhelm them.

2) He stopped them in the middle of the crowd: there are times where Jesus wants us to pay attention and puts people in our way in order for us to realize we must help, but many times we judge them. God lets us know through other people that we have made mistakes. Instead of thanking and helping people, we struggle with our preconceptions and what we believe is the truth. Please reflect and see if God has ever put someone in front of you to face this reality? Did you help or did you just judge?

3) To do good: Dear brother, please never stop doing good! Do not allow evil overcome us. Please do not fill your life with resentment, hate or vengeance. We must do good instead of evil. You can do good everyday with small acts; for example: by smiling at others, picking up trash on the street, or helping anyone you see in need. Several small acts of kindness can add up to a lot in one day. I invite you today to make a better life for yourself and others. Life is beautiful and we must help others see that fact. God bless you in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Remember, heaven is our goal!
