Luke 11 37-41

Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Luke 11,37-41

After Jesus had spoken, a Pharisee invited him to dine at his home. He entered and reclined at table to eat.
The Pharisee was amazed to see that he did not observe the prescribed washing before the meal.
The Lord said to him, “Oh you Pharisees! Although you cleanse the outside of the cup and the dish, inside you are filled with plunder and evil.
You fools! Did not the maker of the outside also make the inside?
But as to what is within, give alms, and behold, everything will be clean for you.”

Invite Jesus

1) The invitation: The invitation to eat is to share; to share my life with the other. It is giving someone that space to get to know you, and to get to know them better on the inside. Jesus was invited. He attracted attention and they wanted to know him more. Today, it would be good if you think about who you invite into your life, and who you do not invite. Do you make yourself known? Or are you a mystery to others? Don’t be afraid to show yourself as you are; be authentic and don’t be afraid to be your true self . Jesus had no problem. He did everything naturally; you do the same. Don’t worry about what they will think or say, stay calm even when they talk about you the same way the did about Jesus.

2) Clean yourself: Being clean is an inner attitude rather than an outer one. It is removing that which stains you inside, and makes you feel rotten. Take out of your life that resentment that makes you dirty and makes you think crazy thoughts. Cleanse yourself of that desire to take revenge… the only thing that brings to your life is restlessness and pain; it does not bring peace. Get rid of those things that don’t lead you to happiness.

3) Alms: You will only clean yourself by giving yourself to others; by helping others. There is no better therapy than helping someone in need. Go to an old folks home; visit the grandmothers and you will see in them that life is lived with joy. Go to the children’s hospital and you will see how as a child, you still fight for life. See moms and dads who spend hours next to their son or daughter watching how they breathe and being attentive to any discomfort. Seeing these things purifies you and makes you see life in a different way. Don’t be afraid.
