Luke 11,42-46

Luke 11 42-46

Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Luke 11,42-46

The Lord said: “Woe to you Pharisees! You pay tithes of mint and of rue and of every garden herb, but you pay no attention to judgment and to love for God. These you should have done, without overlooking the others.
Woe to you Pharisees! You love the seat of honor in synagogues and greetings in marketplaces.
Woe to you! You are like unseen graves over which people unknowingly walk.”
Then one of the scholars of the law said to him in reply, “Teacher, by saying this you are insulting us too.”
And he said, “Woe also to you scholars of the law! You impose on people burdens hard to carry, but you yourselves do not lift one finger to touch them.”

Woe to you

1) Taxes: We have to analyse this situation to see if we are using God for our business. We cannot commercialise our faith nor should we use God for personal gain. I refer to this in all aspects, not just economically. We must not misuse God. We must not play with God ! Learn to accept what God wants for you, and see how God invites you to live your life.

2) Occupy:You shouldn’t be prideful ; boasting that you are better than others. Instead, be humble. Learn to live a humble life: look for silence, speak less, and listen. Don’t go around bragging about what you do or don’t do. Don’t worry, your heavenly Father knows all…and that is enough.

3) Impose: We cannot impose our own beliefs on others. We cannot force people to believe. We should not make religion a burden for others. Catholics are a big family, not a military regiment. Today, let’s pray and ask Jesus to help us invite others into the faith, not impose it upon them. Let’s keep going because heaven is our goal!
God-bless you in the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
