Mark 3,1-6

Mark 3 1 - 6

Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Mark 3,1-6

Jesus entered the synagogue. There was a man there who had a withered hand.
They watched him closely to see if he would cure him on the sabbath so that they might accuse him.
He said to the man with the withered hand, “Come up here before us.”
Then he said to them, “Is it lawful to do good on the sabbath rather than to do evil, to save life rather than to destroy it?” But they remained silent.
Looking around at them with anger and grieved at their hardness of heart, he said to the man, “Stretch out your hand.” He stretched it out and his hand was restored.
The Pharisees went out and immediately took counsel with the Herodians against him to put him to death.

To give life

1) The paralyzed hand: This man must have suffered a lot. Maybe you have his same characteristics:
A) feeling useless: bec ause he could not use his hand, he had to depend on others. It is the feeling of bothering others, not being able or not believing that you can do things by yourself; thinking that you cannot work or cannot generate. Be careful that you don’t fall into this temptation.
B) dependent: Becoming dependent on others and constantly needing the benevolence of others, is frustrating; but just think of how many people achieve their goals even with limitations.
C) pity : thinking that whoever helps him feels pity for him. This hurts, but it is the product of his imagination… it isn’t really like that. Don’t let these 3 characteristics take over . Don’t think that you are useless; that because you depend on others, they only help because they feel pity for you. If you allow this to happen, not only your hand will be paralyzed, but your life will be paralyzed too.

2) A look of indignation: It is the look that Jesus gives those committed religious Pharisees because they are pious, but they are not compassionate; not “human”. Now I am talking to you, dear brother or sister, committee in the Church, to you priest or religious person, to you of this or that movement, or of this or that institution: let’s not dehumanize ourselves! Let’s bring Jesus to others ! Do not treat people badly; do not use the Church as a power position; don’t use the church to be an influencer… do not take advantage of the Church! Do not make the parish or the movement a gossip column. We are called to heal and save, not to hurt or condemn. I hope it is not too late for us, so Jesus will not look at us like that …

3) Extend your hand: Today extend your hand. There are many people that need your help and you can do a lot. Turn off the TV. Stop watching so many Netflix series, and go have coffee or lunch with that person who you know is alone. Go and give them a hand. There is always someone who needs you, even if it is to go with them to pay their gas and electricity bills. Today, you can do a lot with so little; just offer to help.
God-bless you in the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Don’t forget, heaven is our goal.
