Matthew 7,7-12

Matthew 7-7-12

Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Matthew 7,7-12

Jesus said to his disciples: “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.
For everyone who asks, receives; and the one who seeks, finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.
Which one of you would hand his son a stone when he asks for a loaf of bread,
or a snake when he asks for a fish?
If you then, who are wicked, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give good things to those who ask him.
Do to others whatever you would have them do to you. This is the law and the prophets.”

I ask to change

1) Process: in this time of lent, you are called to change. Stop being your same old self…you can’t justify those bad habits. You have to change something; at least make an effort to try. But the change is a slow process. Everything has its time. For example: if I want to cook barbecue, first I buy the charcoal, the meat, some salad, etc. I prepare the meat with salt and lemon, but I must wait for the coals to get hot, and later wait a while for the meat to be on the fire, and it tastes even better if you leave it on low heat and cook it slow. So, this is how it is with your life. You can have everything ready to change, and make a turn in your life, but the key is the time it takes you to change. Abrupt changes never come out well. Like the barbecue , change takes time…and it means that even though it looks good outside, it is not well done inside. You can’t be a “litght” Christian.

2) Passing situations: there are situations you have go through in order to change. It will not be easy. First, in the presence of a difficult situation I can fall, feel hurt and beaten down, thinking that it is someone else’s fault. Second, in the face of the bad situation that leads me to fall, I pretend not to see it and I fall into the same situation again. I say that the fault is not mine. Third, I fall again in the same situation, because now “IT’S A HABIT”… but my eyes are open and I know that it is my responsibility, so I immediately get out of this situation. The fourth situation, is not to fall into it, but to see it coming. Finally, the fifth is to avoid that situation; go another way in my life without having to face it. This is how it is in life, it is a process. First you fall and hit hard, but sooner or later you go another way thinking about how that situation led you to fall. Perhaps there is something that worries you; it is probably between the second and the fourth situation. Some people don’t realize when they fall at the beginning. But I remind you that you can go out and walk through life another way, but it takes time. There is always a way out of everything.

3) Be good: Act honestly; be prudent, and learn to be silent. Don’t let apathy and lack of effort lead you to fall into a routine life. You have a lot to give. Make an effort !

God-bless you in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Remember, heaven is our goal.
