Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint John 15, 12-17
Jesus said to his disciples: “This is my commandment: love one another as I love you.
No one has greater love than this, to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.
You are my friends if you do what I command you.
I no longer call you slaves, because a slave does not know what his master is doing. I have called you friends, because I have told you everything I have heard from my Father.
It was not you who chose me, but I who chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit that will remain, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name he may give you.
This I command you: love one another.”
To love each other in Him
1) The commandment: in this we see that God continues to teach us that we must love each other. Love others by accepting and welcoming them. To really love is to accept the other person as they are, and to grow the relationship from there in their presence. The greatest greatness of loving is to see that “little piece of God” in the other person. This is fundamental.
2) Friends: there is nothing more beautiful than having friends. Life gives you a family, but you choose your friends. How many of us, during this time, miss that get-together with friends? You don’t know how desperate I am to get together with my friends and have a barbecue, and share what we are going through! Friends have that different language. They’re the ones who accompany you and make you feel good. They are the ones who tell you things and show you the way. They’re who correct you, but they also help you when you don’t know which way to go. Today, offer your prayer for that friend who accompanies you in life, and makes your life different.
3) Choose: Christianity is a vocation. It is a call and a proposal from God that makes you different and distinct. It is He who proposes it to you, and you are free to choose. We are called to bear fruit and to bear “lasting” fruit. Today, with your life example, you can build a lot in the lives of many people. Have courage and keep building. God is in you, and you are in God !
