John 19,31-37

by Fr. Luis A. Zazano
John 19, 31-37

Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint John 19,31-37

Since it was preparation day, in order that the bodies might not remain on the cross on the sabbath, for the sabbath day of that week was a solemn one, the Jews asked Pilate that their legs be broken and they be taken down.
So the soldiers came and broke the legs of the first and then of the other one who was crucified with Jesus.
But when they came to Jesus and saw that he was already dead, they did not break his legs,
but one soldier thrust his lance into his side, and immediately blood and water flowed out.
An eyewitness has testified, and his testimony is true; he knows that he is speaking the truth, so that you also may (come to) believe.
For this happened so that the scripture passage might be fulfilled: “Not a bone of it will be broken.”
And again another passage says: “They will look upon him whom they have pierced.”

I trust in you

1) Surrendered: thus begins the act of consecration to the Sacred Heart. Today is about surrendering at the feet of Jesus. Entrust your life, your struggles, and even your failures to Him. Know that Jesus has a merciful and fraternal heart, and he seeks to embrace you and console you. Today, Jesus is waiting for you to give him the opportunity to fulfill you; allow yourself to be satisfied.

2) Blood and water: It is nice to know that God gives his life for you and me, and that he cleanses us of our sins. We all have scars from life. Those mistakes made that often weigh on us, and bring us down. Today, look at the Sacred Heart and ask Him to cleanse you and fill you with Him. Ask for that love that touches us, heals everything, and fills all our emptiness. His heart is big and alive.

3) Blessed in eternity: This is how the act of consecration ends: this life is beautiful but it also brings its blows. Rest assured that eternal life is real and God promises it to you. He reminds you that he walks by your side and wants you to trust him because he offers you an eternity of life. He who believes lives.
Today, pray the Act of Consecration to the Sacred Heart.
God-bless you in the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Sacred Heart of Jesus, I trust in you. Heaven is our goal.
