Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Mark 14,12 – 16, 22 – 26

On the first day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread,
when they sacrificed the Passover lamb,
Jesus’ disciples said to him,
“Where do you want us to go
and prepare for you to eat the Passover?”
He sent two of his disciples and said to them,
“Go into the city and a man will meet you,
carrying a jar of water.
Follow him.
Wherever he enters, say to the master of the house,
‘The Teacher says, “Where is my guest room
where I may eat the Passover with my disciples?”‘
Then he will show you a large upper room furnished and ready.
Make the preparations for us there.”
The disciples then went off, entered the city,
and found it just as he had told them;
and they prepared the Passover.
While they were eating,
he took bread, said the blessing,
broke it, gave it to them, and said,
“Take it; this is my body.”
Then he took a cup, gave thanks, and gave it to them,
and they all drank from it.
He said to them,
“This is my blood of the covenant,
which will be shed for many.
Amen, I say to you,
I shall not drink again the fruit of the vine
until the day when I drink it new in the kingdom of God.”
Then, after singing a hymn,
they went out to the Mount of Olives.

The Eucharist, mystery of love

1) Prepare: This is what Jesus sends his disciples to do: to prepare themselves. Today Jesus also invites us to prepare ourselves IN the Eucharist and FOR the Eucharist. Sometimes we go to the Eucharist just like that, and we even answer the phone up until seconds before the priest comes in to celebrate. It is good to arrive early, silence your thoughts, and prepare your heart to participate in the Lord’s supper. Do you take time to prepare yourself for the mass?

2) Take: It is Jesus who gives himself out of pure love. Jesus comes in the simplest way and is our treasure. He is the food that He asks us to take, celebrate, and adore.

3) Celebrate it: Take advantage of the opportunity to go to mass. Remember that there are places where there is no mass because there is no priest, so there is no Eucharist. Appreciate the chance to be able to choose which mass to go to… because you like the priest, or because of an affinity for the location or church, and that’s fine… but remember there are others who have mass only once a year, or just once in a while. Finally, today, let us pray for priestly vocations so that they may lead many souls to Jesus, the Eucharist. Pray that the Eucharist will lead you to that intimate encounter with Jesus.
God-bless you in the name of the Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit. Never forget, heaven is our goal !
