Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Matthew 6,19-23
Jesus said to his disciples: “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and decay destroy, and thieves break in and steal.
But store up treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor decay destroys, nor thieves break in and steal.
For where your treasure is, there also will your heart be.
The lamp of the body is the eye. If your eye is sound, your whole body will be filled with light;
but if your eye is bad, your whole body will be in darkness. And if the light in you is darkness, how great will the darkness be.”
1) On earth: Consumerism is taking over our lives. We no longer seek to just have things; we want the latest things. If you have the Samsung S6, you already want the S7 and so on, including the most recent cell phone. The same with the car and the same with everything; you get pulled into the whirlpool of life where it is no longer that you live for things, but rather that your time is dedicated to things; you may get money back but you can’t get time back. It is possible that money or material things lead you to forget about happiness.
2) Your treasure: It is important to be clear about where your life is headed and what it is that you want for your life. When that is not clear to you, you fall completely and your heart breaks. Seek God and determine where your life is going, hunt for the treasure and find what truly makes you happy. When you find what makes you happy, I assure you that it will be very beautiful.
3) Your eye: It is the way you look at things that helps you to understand life. Today, learn to look at your heart and your life, and learn to read your life. Today, can you say in three words who you are?
May God bless you in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. And always remember Heaven is our goal.
