Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Matthew 6,7-15
Jesus said, “When you are praying, do not heap up empty phrases as the Gentiles do; for they think that they will be heard because of their many words. Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him. ‘Pray then in this way: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And do not bring us to the time of trial, but rescue us from the evil one. For if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you; but if you do not forgive others, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.”
Praying is speaking from the heart.
1) Words: Sometimes it seems that we have confused the Lord, but God sees and hears the heart. I understand you if you don’t get it, but stay calm… don’t reduce your prayer to a request. Prayer is more than asking, it is talking: it is telling the Lord what is happening to you, what you live and feel, it is sharing your life with the Lord. Because God is your partner and at the end of your road, he is not an ATM that you just look for, type in a code and get something. God is my companion on the road with whom I go through good times and bad.
2) Our Father: It is the key prayer of our Christian life; it contains everything and we can reflect on it sentence by sentence; Just start by saying “Father” that close and simple relationship. Today I invite you to say this prayer slowly and to take to heart the words that you like the most. For my part, I’ll delve into the words “as we forgive those who trespass against us.” Do I do this? Do I fit within that we?
3) The secret: Jesus continues to show you that he does not want you to be a youtuber, or an influencer, where you are exposed 24 hours a day, much less does he want you to walk around showing off your Christian life before others. God wants you to relate to him in secret. God only wants an intimate encounter between him and you.
May God bless you in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. And always remember Heaven is our goal.
