Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Matthew 7,1-5.
Jesus said to his disciples: “Stop judging, that you may not be judged.
For as you judge, so will you be judged, and the measure with which you measure will be measured out to you.
Why do you notice the splinter in your brother’s eye, but do not perceive the wooden beam in your own eye?
How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me remove that splinter from your eye,’ while the wooden beam is in your eye?
You hypocrite, remove the wooden beam from your eye first; then you will see clearly to remove the splinter from your brother’s eye.”
It is easier to destroy than to build.
1) Judge: Judging others does so much harm ! There are people who lose long-lasting friendships due to reckless judgment. Judging, and leaving charity aside, is damaging. Once I had to experience for myself the feeling of being judged; I even felt like they penalized me. It was really hard at that time, but one discovers, over time that what is built over the years is very valuable… and the trial without charity ends up ruining everything. Therefore, before judging someone, remember that the first thing is to Look at reality, being objective as possible, and then live CHARITY… knowing that Christians must have the same feelings as Christ. Ask yourself “What would Jesus do?” Finally, remember that if you have judged hastily and without charity, you can throw away everything that was built… so always consider that you should be constructive in the lives of others, not destructive.
2) Look at yourself: Before judging you must remember who you are and see that you can make mistakes too. No one is exempt from anything, because the only difference between you and your brother is that he has a public sin that everyone realizes, but you have private sins that no one knows about yet. For this reason, before judging your brother, look at yourself and see that you too have mistakes and are weak. In the church there are no first-rate or second-rate Christians. In the church, every baptized person is a valuable child of God.
3) Your brother: Jesus reminds us that the key to the Christian is to watch over your brother; to grow in life through dealing with your brothers. Know that God put someone in your life, close to you, to help. Helping your brother helps you, but judging your brother condemns you.
