Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Luke 9, 1-6
Then Jesus called the twelve together and gave them power and authority over all demons and to cure diseases, and he sent them out to proclaim the kingdom of God and to heal. He said to them, ‘Take nothing for your journey, no staff, nor bag, nor bread, nor money – not even an extra tunic. Whatever house you enter, stay there, and leave from there. Wherever they do not welcome you, as you are leaving that town shake the dust off your feet as a testimony against them.’ They departed and went through the villages, bringing the good news and curing diseases everywhere.
He summons. Jesus summons, calls, and gathers. This is why you should not fail to meet with Jesus. Take a moment to be with him in your daily activities. Whether in the morning, afternoon, or evening, Jesus is there calling you to work together, to be a part of his team. Maybe that’s hard for us to understand. Sometimes, we forget the importance of working as a team, sometimes we get the bug of stardom and we like to stand out. Today, Jesus invites you to be with Him, but also to work in a community as a team. We are different, but in Jesus we are one and one for others, we are Christ’s team.
Gives power. The power that Jesus gives is service. It is the power to heal the brother, the power to help others, power that gives people dignity, and power that helps brothers and sisters to feel fulfilled. This is the power Jesus gives and no other. Those of us who are called to the Church are called to this power, not the power of commanding, not the power of having certain privileges, not the power of wanting to be treated like a boss. The power God gives us is to help others and not to abuse them. Today, you and I must remember the key is to serve.
Providence. God never lets go of your hand. If you are a missionary, it is certain that you will see beautiful things, and one of them is that you will see how God places people who accompany you along the way. They are those little angels of flesh and blood, that God places as guides and guardians. Therefore, do not be afraid because you will always have someone by your side sent by God. God never leaves you alone. God bless you in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Always remember, Heaven is our goal.
