Wanting to see Jesus

Luke 9, 7-9

by Fr. Luis A. Zazano

Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Luke 9, 7-9

Now Herod the ruler heard about all that had taken place, and he was perplexed, because it was said by some that John had been raised from the dead, by some that Elijah had appeared, and by others that one of the ancient prophets had arisen. Herod said, “John I beheaded; but who is this about whom I hear such things?” And he tried to see him.

Wanting to see Jesus

1) The tetrarch. In him we see the figure of the person who wants everything at any cost. He represents that person who knows no boundaries, who’s blinded by power, and I don’t mean only blinded by money, but rather that person who accepts no limits and considers others who set limits as threats to his power.
2) What they say. It could refer to “cold” Christians, who only hear from God but don’t come to know Him. Get to know Jesus through the Bible, have a personal encounter with Him as you visit Him in the Blessed Sacrament, and go to Mass. Don’t be satisfied only with “what you’ve been told,” search for Him, and take a moment of silence to talk to Him.
3) Find Him. It is all about looking for God, getting to know more about Him, until you long to be with Him to feel joy and happiness. Everything becomes smoother with God. Trust and look for Him.
God bless you in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Always remember Heaven is our goal.
