Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Luke 21,1-4

When Jesus looked up he saw some wealthy people
putting their offerings into the treasury
and he noticed a poor widow putting in two small coins.
He said, “I tell you truly,
this poor widow put in more than all the rest;
for those others have all made offerings from their surplus wealth,
but she, from her poverty, has offered her whole livelihood.”

Our offering

1.The rich. In the gospel, the rich refers to people that have religious beliefs but oftentimes give very little to others. The gospel is speaking about people who give, but only to fulfill moral obligations. In their case, giving does not come from the heart, but only for the sake of appearances. Their material richness is superficial because they believe they are doing God a favor. They’d rather take care of their money than spend time with God.

2.The widow. She gives herself entirely to God. She doesn’t depend on herself, so she feels limited and her security is given completely to God. She has nothing but God. The widow gives us the example of complete wholehearted abandonment to God. The widow represents each person that says, ‘Jesus, I trust you completely.’

3.The offering. This should help us think about what we give. What have you given to God today? What can you offer God? It is important to consider these questions. There will always be struggles, and you will always have something to ask God for, but what are you giving to Him? It would be a good idea to write down on a sheet of paper five things you are willing to offer God today.

God bless you in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
And remember, Heaven is our goal!
