An Appointment with the Bible VII

A new Lenten season knocks at our door. And the one who knocks on our heart’s door is God, and he expects us to open it.

When a priest makes the sign of the cross on us with the ashes, we hear him telling us to convert our soul and believe in the Gospel. It is not that the priest or Mother Church thinks we have stopped believing, but with those words God renews His invitation to us to seek Him. For a while we should retire to the desert -metaphorically speaking- to rediscover what is essential in our lives. And, surely, the most essential thing is for the Father to be in our life. He actually is there, but many times we don’t see Him.
May this selection of quotes from the Holy Scriptures serve its purpose in your journey to meet God.

Let us know, let us strive to know the LORD; as certain as the dawn is his coming, and his judgment shines forth like the light of day! He will come to us like the rain, like spring rain that waters the earth.”

Hosea 6,3.

For thus said the Lord GOD, the Holy One of Israel: By waiting and by calm you shall be saved, in quiet and in trust your strength lies. But this you did not wish.

Isaiah 30,15.

“This is the time of fulfillment. The kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe in the go

Mark 1, 15.

I have not come to call the righteous to repentance but sinners.”

Luke 5,32.

Repent, therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be wiped away, and that the Lord may grant you times of refreshment and send you the Messiah already appointed for you, Jesus,

Acts 3, 19-20

The Lord does not delay his promise, as some regard “delay,” but he is patient with you, not wishing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.

2 Peter 3, 9.
