Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Luke 9,1-6.
Jesus summoned the Twelve and gave them power and authority over all demons and to cure diseases,
and he sent them to proclaim the kingdom of God and to heal the sick.
He said to them, “Take nothing for the journey, neither walking stick, nor sack, nor food, nor money, and let no one take a second tunic.
Whatever house you enter, stay there and leave from there.
And as for those who do not welcome you, when you leave that town, shake the dust from your feet in testimony against them.”
Then they set out and went from village to village proclaiming the good news and curing diseases everywhere.
Being a disciple is healing.
1) Convoke: Jesus, calls and gathers. Don’t stop to have a close encounter with Jesus. Take a moment to be with him in your daily activities. Whether it’s In the morning, afternoon, or at night, Jesus is there, calling you to work together, we are a part of his team. Maybe that’s hard for us to understand. Sometimes, we forgot the importance to work as a team, we love to work alone, we like to feel we are stars and we like to excel. Today, Jesus invites you to be with Him, but also to work in a community as a team. We are different, but in Jesus we are one and one for others, we are Christ’s team.
2) Gives power: The power that Jesus gives is service, it is to heal the brother, it is the power to help others, power that gives dignity, power that helps the brother to feel fulfilled. THIS is the power Jesus gives and not any other. Those of us who are called to the Church are called to this power, not to the power of commanding, not to the power of having certain privileges, not to the power of wanting to be treated like the owner of a ranch. The power God gives you is to help others and not to abuse them. Today, you and I must remember the key is to serve.
3) Providence: God never lets you alone. If you are a missionary, it is certain you will see beautiful things and one of them is you will see how God puts people to accompany you along the way. They are those little angels of flesh and blood, that God puts as guides and as custodians. Therefore, do not be afraid that you will always have someone by your side sent by God. God never leaves you alone.
God bless you in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
