Man is naturally drawn to seek God in those places where He has manifested Himself in a special way, places where God gives His people the possibility of more easily feeling His Presence. A pilgrim looks for the supernatural in a particular place that is outside of the routine of his daily reality, since he leaves everything in order to go to have an encounter with the Living God. This journey is not only interior but also implies a physical dimension. This spiritual and physical movement, which allows men and women to walk to visit places where they come into contact with the sacred is a common practice of all religions and cultures. To begin a pilgrimage is to set out and arrive at “an encounter with Christ ” As God sees the effort we make to meet Him, special blessings are received on every pilgrimage.
The blessings are innumerable and this is by God’s design. On pilgrimage, we open our hands and our hearts to receive the precious stones of graces that Jesus wants to give us, placing our total trust in the love of God the Father, and in the power of Mary’s intercession, our Mother in the heart of her Son Jesus.
