Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Luke 2,16-21.
The shepherds went in haste to Bethlehem and found Mary and Joseph, and the infant lying in the manger.
When they saw this, they made known the message that had been told them about this child.
All who heard it were amazed by what had been told them by the shepherds.
And Mary kept all these things, reflecting on them in her heart.
Then the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all they had heard and seen, just as it had been told to them.
When eight days were completed for his circumcision, he was named Jesus, the name given him by the angel before he was conceived in the womb.
Why is today an obligatory precept?. Because today is the Virgin Mary´s Day
1) Look: it is the attitude of the shepherds because they are humble, they are put God as their number one priority. We invite to you to look to God from a humble point of view and discover everything God has to offer. Show your humility, like the shepherds did, proclaiming from a humble beginning everything the world holds and creates anew. To the happy and alive Church. Proclaim from this Church who reaches out to everyone and is open for everyone. A Church that is not perfect because the people that integrate it are sinners, but we know the founder who is perfect and this motivates us to proclaim our faith from our weaknesses and smallness.
2) Mary: today we celebrate Mary as the Mother of God, traditionally the beginning of the year and we attend mass not because it is the first day of the new year but because it is the Virgin Mary´s Day. Today marks the eighth day after Christmas and we begin this new year with Mary to continue our path to God. Today we begin a new year with Mary who hold us in Her Heart because she is our Mother.
3) Everything in Her Heart: Mary holds us in Her Heart with care and prudence. You also must learn to hold things inside your heart and know life gives us this great opportunity to do it. Being hot headed or doing things in a hurry is what we must avoid. The key is to walk together and help each other. May this year be of unity between brothers and no competition. The person that thinks different than I do is only to enrich my knowledge and not an enemy. Together we must carry the Church and it does not discriminate anyone. Come on, this new year we need all the strength we can muster because Jesus did not give up even on the cross. You cannot falter. This year resuscitate.
