Matthew 5,20-26

MATTHEW-5-20-26

Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Matthew 5,20-26

Jesus said to his disciples:  “I tell you, unless your righteousness surpasses that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will not enter into the Kingdom of heaven.
You have heard that it was said to your ancestors, ‘You shall not kill; and whoever kills will be liable to judgment.’
But I say to you, whoever is angry with his brother will be liable to judgment, and whoever says to his brother, ‘Raqa,’ will be answerable to the Sanhedrin, and whoever says, ‘You fool,’ will be liable to fiery Gehenna.
Therefore, if you bring your gift to the altar, and there recall that your brother has anything against you,
leave your gift there at the altar, go first and be reconciled with your brother, and then come and offer your gift.
Settle with your opponent quickly while on the way to court with him. Otherwise your opponent will hand you over to the judge, and the judge will hand you over to the guard, and you will be thrown into prison.
Amen, I say to you, you will not be released until you have paid the last penny.”

Your brother is worth it

1) Justice: it is an important personal and social virtue. It is implying to give each what they deserve, but above all to be fair with what we do. To be just does not only imply to obey laws, because often laws may be unfair, and may be against human life. It is to be clear in our position and convictions. It is important to know that you as a father or mother you must educate and mold your kids. Being just implies being fair and abide by the rules.

2) Your brother: Jesus reminds that each of us is important, unique and unrepeatable. We are all sons of God. Nobody is supposed to step over anybody else rather helping others in our way.

3) The altar: this refers to your sanctity. You must help others. The search for the truth is to speak to others about God. You cannot be a great speaker in church while a tattletale outside. You must be a coherent person with what you believe and what you do.
God bless you in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
Remember: Heaven is our goal!
