Hey Father Ricky at Ave Maria University. I am so blessed because I get to experience things like retreats, youth conferences, summer camps, and even daily, just offering the sacrament of reconciliation, and I watch people change. I watch them become the best version of themselves when they’ve encountered Jesus Christ especially in the sacraments and they allow Jesus to fill them with joy, to give meaning to their lives, to to burn away their sins and to fill them with the grace that comes from heaven, and I imagine that, that’s what it was like during the time of the Transfiguration when Jesus took his his inner circle of Apostles: Peter James and John. the men who would be the head in the heart and the soul of early the early church leadership. He takes them apart for a kind of a mini retreat up at Mount Tabor, where he is transfigured, where they get to experience him in his divinity, where they hear the voice of the father affirming: this is my beloved Son in whom I’m well pleased listen to him, these men getting so close to the divine Jesus must have had their sins purged away and burned off, so they could come down from the mountain and minister to the people of God changed and strengthened by encounter with Jesus Christ, and it’s what we need as well especially.
If you’re involved in any kind of church leadership or Christian leadership, we need time with Jesus and the sacraments to put everything in perspective to burn away our sins through the sacraments that we can come down and minister in his name and ourselves be transfigured and filled with his light. May God give you peace.
We encounter Jesus & become the best version of ourselves
