Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint John 3,16-21
God so loved the world that he gave his only-begotten Son, so that everyone who believes in him might not perish but might have eternal life.
For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world might be saved through him.
Whoever believes in him will not be condemned, but whoever does not believe has already been condemned, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
And this is the verdict, that the light came into the world, but people preferred darkness to light, because their works were evil.
For everyone who does wicked things hates the light and does not come toward the light, so that his works might not be exposed.
But whoever lives the truth comes to the light, so that his works may be clearly seen as done in God.
God wants to lend you a hand to save you and not to hit you.
1) God loved so much. The person who loves has no limits. Love is limitless because love escapes limits. Love goes further …even further than your thoughts, your ‘madness’ … everything. A person who loves is capable of losing everything for love. Maybe it sounds romantic, but if you’ve ever really fallen in love, you’ll understand me, because when you fall in love, you know no limits, you even act silly. God is “silly” in love with you !
2) Your judgement. Many of us have been taught that there is a Punishing God, and that when we attended mass or prayed, we had to be upright, stiff ,and starched, so to say. God wants you to feel at ease and wants to have a personal and close encounter with you. God’s judgement is personal: you looking into God’s eyes and He looking right back at you. Imagine that moment.
3) God’s gentle, loving touch. God’s greatest caress is the Cross. The Cross is how God tells you that actions speak louder than words… “love means deeds, not sweet words”. Do you do the same thing? Do you love with passion, with pain, with concrete actions? Today try to express that to the person you love through actions and gestures. Do it today because you never know if you or that person will be around tomorrow.
