Mark 12,18-27

Mark 12,18-27

Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Mark 12,18-27

Some Sadducees, who say there is no resurrection, came to Jesus and put this question to him,
saying, “Teacher, Moses wrote for us, ‘If someone’s brother dies, leaving a wife but no child, his brother must take the wife and raise up descendants for his brother.’
Now there were seven brothers. The first married a woman and died, leaving no descendants.
So the second married her and died, leaving no descendants, and the third likewise.
And the seven left no descendants. Last of all the woman also died.
At the resurrection (when they arise) whose wife will she be? For all seven had been married to her.”
Jesus said to them, “Are you not misled because you do not know the scriptures or the power of God?
When they rise from the dead, they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but they are like the angels in heaven.
As for the dead being raised, have you not read in the Book of Moses, in the passage about the bush, how God told him, ‘I am the God of Abraham, (the) God of Isaac, and (the) God of Jacob’?
He is not God of the dead but of the living. You are greatly misled.”

Eternal life

1) Cases: Jesus hears a particular case and that teaches us that all cases are important. It is good to analyze each situation and consider that man is a unique being so you cannot judge everyone the same way. Each case is special. That’s why it’s necessary to listen and analyze each case carefully. Jesus is an attentive person who listens and is interested. May you learn to always listen to your brothers and sisters and discern each case. In life, two plus two doesn’t always equal four.

2) They will be like angels. Jesus teaches us that we are wrong when we want to explain eternal life using our “earthly” language. There are times when we speak without knowledge. The Lord shows us that in eternity, we will no longer cling to the flesh and that eternity is not a continuation of what we lived here on earth. That is why Jesus says that we will be like angels because we will praise God and be in His presence.

3) God of the living. God reminds you that if you have faith you will be able to do everything in life. By saying: “I have FAITH” you can make the statement: “I will not die”.
Live and enjoy life because life is the most beautiful gift God has given you. You only have one life to live !
Be strong and remember Heaven is our goal!
God bless you in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
