Matthew 23,27-32

Matthew 23 27-32

Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Matthew 23,27-32

Jesus said, “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, you hypocrites. You are like whitewashed tombs, which appear beautiful on the outside, but inside are full of dead men’s bones and every kind of filth.
Even so, on the outside you appear righteous, but inside you are filled with hypocrisy and evildoing.
Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, you hypocrites. You build the tombs of the prophets and adorn the memorials of the righteous,
and you say, ‘If we had lived in the days of our ancestors, we would not have joined them in shedding the prophets’ blood.’
Thus you bear witness against yourselves that you are the children of those who murdered the prophets;
now fill up what your ancestors measured out!”

Whitewashed tomb

1) Appearance: When you live for appearance’s sake, you live in a state of fear and anguish.
You live for others, not for yourself. You are in a constant stress because the demands of others are great. You are unable to listen to yourself and you leave yourself behind. You can add to the mix the fact that you are unable to say no to others and you agree with everything others tell you to do. You are selling your personality; your very “being”; you lose your road to happiness. If you do not get out of this downward spiral, you can never be happy.

2) Build graves: There are people that do good deeds because of the goodness of their heart and are truly impartial… this is what charity is. But, there are other people that do good deeds in order to be seen by others; to use as a presentation card. Remember that, as a Christian, you must do and disappear. I repeat this constantly in various ways, “to do and disappear”. Please do not fall into bragging; avoid setting stages… leave that to the professional actors and actresses out there. We must do things for God. You must always act with love rather than self glory or narcissism.

3) Witness: You and I must fight daily to correct our weaknesses. New day, new obstacles, new battles. St. Augustine was a pioneer when he said, “Late I loved you, beauty so old and so new at the same time, late I loved you !” It is a constant search to love God in your life and be a witness of love and life. He also said “you are within me and I am outside”. Look inside yourself and you will discover the best tool to be a saint is to Be Yourself from your encounter with God.

God bless you and be with you in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
Remember, Heaven is our goal!
