Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Luke 17,11-19
As Jesus continued his journey to Jerusalem, he traveled through Samaria and Galilee.
As he was entering a village, ten lepers met him. They stood at a distance from him
and raised their voice, saying, “Jesus, Master! Have pity on us!”
And when he saw them, he said, “Go show yourselves to the priests.” As they were going they were cleansed.
And one of them, realizing he had been healed, returned, glorifying God in a loud voice;
and he fell at the feet of Jesus and thanked him. He was a Samaritan.
Jesus said in reply, “Ten were cleansed, were they not? Where are the other nine?
Has none but this foreigner returned to give thanks to God?”
Then he said to him, “Stand up and go; your faith has saved you.”
Give thanks
1) Jesus was passing by: I want to keep this image in my mind: the walking Jesus; the Jesus who is going out; the “Street Jesus”. Today, we have to be like Jesus; people who go out; who seek; who travel. We need to go out, not waiting around for the one in need; go out and look for the need. This attitude of Jesus asks me: ” Am I locked up waiting… or do I go out to find? Do I see the other’s need, or am I focused on my own business?” Go out and realize that there is another reality different from yours; not everyone revolves around you. The world doesn’t revolve around you.
2) Purified: How often have our own miseries lead us to get sick and feel impure? Maybe today your illness happens because of what you cannot accept, do not assume, or do not forgive yourself for.
What is it that makes you sick today? What is it that prevents you from enjoying life and makes you feel weighed down? Think about it and present yourself today before Him so He can heal you.
3) He came back: Go back to God and give Him thanks. He heals and liberates you and me…I go back to Him. I’m sure there is something about you that you have to thank Him for. I hope you tell Him what it is and give thanks! Good things come to you in this life; and you’ve received something nice and enjoyed yourself… So, what do you want to thank Him for today?
May God protect you and bless you in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Remember, heaven is our goal !
