Matthew 4.18-22

by Fr. Luis A. Zazano

As Jesus was walking by the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon who is called Peter, and his brother Andrew, casting a net into the sea; they were fishermen.
He said to them, “Come after me, and I will make you fishers of men.”
At once they left their nets and followed him.
He walked along from there and saw two other brothers, James, the son of Zebedee, and his brother John. They were in a boat, with their father Zebedee, mending their nets. He called them,
and immediately they left their boat and their father and followed him.

God calls you

1) Jesus saw: It is Jesus who calls you. It is not you who choose the path, it is God who plants that little seed in your heart that makes you follow Him and fall in love with Him every single day. It is enjoying life with Him, in a close way. There is a consequence that comes from that relationship… and this is service.

2) Throw your nets: It is on a daily basis where God appears. Daily you meet God. It is learning that there isn’t a timetable for God and another timetable for others. Be a fisher of men by being with God all the time, helping and giving oneself to others.

3) Brothers: Following Jesus implies sharing with others, building a community. The one who follows Christ cannot be isolated, nor an isolator. The one who follows Jesus builds a community; builds a family.

God bless you in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Remember, heaven is our goal.
