Matthew 7:21, 24-27

by Fr. Luis A. Zazano

Jesus said to his disciples: “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father in heaven.
Everyone who listens to these words of mine and acts on them will be like a wise man who built his house on rock.
The rain fell, the floods came, and the winds blew and buffeted the house. But it did not collapse; it had been set solidly on rock.
And everyone who listens to these words of mine but does not act on them will be like a fool who built his house on sand.
The rain fell, the floods came, and the winds blew and buffeted the house. And it collapsed and was completely ruined.”

Firm like rocks

1) Those who say… That’s the figure of those who speak a lot but do very little. As a priest, who is a friend of mine, would say, “less talk and more action”. We must be careful about this because we can have a master’s degree in religion but at the same time we can be unbearable and annoying. We can know a lot and talk beautifully about God, yet be so arrogant!

2) Those who act. This refers to those who are sober and take action. I mean, those effective brethren who go out and show God’s love in everyday life… and they do so silently, not showing off. What they do, they do for Love. Everything that is done out of love is not done to show off, but out of the satisfaction that love brings; it’s the Grace of God in action.

3) Rock. The rock and the key to making your life coherent is your connection to God. You have the ability to intensify your encounter with Christ, and deepen your dialogue with him. Do you want to be a rock? PRAY, UPGRADE YOUR KNOWLEGE, AND BE ACTIVE IN YOUR APOSTOLIC MISSION.
God bless you and be with you in the name of the Father, of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
Remember Heaven is our goal, so let’s prepare our hearts during Advent!
