Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Mark 1,29-39
On leaving the synagogue Jesus entered the house of Simon and Andrew with James and John.
Simon’s mother-in-law lay sick with a fever. They immediately told him about her.
He approached, grasped her hand, and helped her up. Then the fever left her and she waited on them.
When it was evening, after sunset, they brought to him all who were ill or possessed by demons.
The whole town was gathered at the door.
He cured many who were sick with various diseases, and he drove out many demons, not permitting them to speak because they knew him.
Rising very early before dawn, he left and went off to a deserted place, where he prayed.
Simon and those who were with him pursued him
and on finding him said, “Everyone is looking for you.”
He told them, “Let us go on to the nearby villages that I may preach there also. For this purpose have I come.”
So he went into their synagogues, preaching and driving out demons throughout the whole of Galilee.
Seek God
1) He left the synagogue: The importance of prayer in Jesus’ life is above everything. Prayer is the core; the center. We must always make time to pray; to enter the chapel and spend a while in silence and prayer. Find your space and your moment. In prayer, you find your strength for everything that you have to face in the day. There is your place and your moment to find answers to many of your questions. The key is silence.
2) He took her by the hand: Jesus heals. It is a beautiful gesture , His taking her hand and raising her up. This demonstrates that Christ never leaves you alone. He is always by your side and He picks you up. Do you know? We do not want you to fall, we do not want you to be knocked down in this life. Beyond what happens or has happened to you, we want to tell you that we are here to take you and help you up. You are not alone. We will not let the sickness of this life make you see things that are not clear. Today you have a lot to give and offer to this world. We will help you and pick you up. We don’t want you to allow yourself be alone.
3) He went to other places: The missionary attitude is to go looking for the others. Today, take that missionary attitude. Go visit the one who needs you; you could even send him a message asking how he’s doing. You could send a Gospel meditation to that person who you know is distant from God. Or, even take time to pray for that person you know needs it. Come on, go out! Don’t get stuck in places… those comfortable places where you want to stay. We have to go out for the mission.
God bless you in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Heaven is our goal !
