Mark 6,7-13

Mark 6-7-13

Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Mark 6,7-13

Jesus summoned the Twelve and began to send them out two by two and gave them authority over unclean spirits.
He instructed them to take nothing for the journey but a walking stick–no food, no sack, no money in their belts.
They were, however, to wear sandals but not a second tunic.
He said to them, “Wherever you enter a house, stay there until you leave from there.
Whatever place does not welcome you or listen to you, leave there and shake the dust off your feet in testimony against them.”
So they went off and preached repentance.
They drove out many demons, and they anointed with oil many who were sick and cured them.

Going forth

1) Jesus called them and sent them off. One of the problems you and I have is that there are times when we don’t know what we want for our lives. It’s like you’re just there, not knowing what to aim for. Then you start doing things so as not to waste time and take advantage, while you think about what you are going to do. At this point everything is great and beautiful, the problem is that time continues to pass and you still haven’t made up your mind. That is when you have to remember that there is a calling from God in your life and that He has chosen you to walk with others, not alone – together. Your life is very important and only requires that you put yourself on the line, make up your mind and think that what you do for your life is for everyone.

2) Nothing extra. On the other hand, your life does not depend on objects, but on carrying out your mission in this world which requires you to be you and to know who you are. It is as if today God said to you: “you don’t have to have wi-fi, nor tablets, nor cell phones, etc.” What you have to remember today is that having things does not make you more of a person. Things can give you momentary security, but you must be more self-confident. You must be sure of your life and the decisions you make. Do not look for things that try to tie your life down. Learn to live your life with what you are and what you have.

3) Stay there. If you are true to yourself, if you know how to be authentic and lead your life with honesty, there will always be someone who will lend you a hand. Ask God for the grace of surrounding you with good people, people who love you for who you are and not for what you have. Learn to discern who is your friend from who is your colleague. One can become obsessed with certain people and maybe they are not the right company; but in hard and key moments those who must appear will appear. Learn to share life with those who contribute to your life and teach you how to live.

God bless you and be with you in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
Remember, Heaven is our goal!
