Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint John 13, 16-20
When Jesus had washed the disciples’ feet, he said to them: “Amen, amen, I say to you, no slave is greater than his master nor any messenger greater than the one who sent him.
If you understand this, blessed are you if you do it.
I am not speaking of all of you. I know those whom I have chosen. But so that the scripture might be fulfilled, ‘The one who ate my food has raised his heel against me.’
From now on I am telling you before it happens, so that when it happens you may believe that I AM.
Amen, amen, I say to you, whoever receives the one I send receives me, and whoever receives me receives the one who sent me.”
To serve.
1) Wash your feet: today we have many people who are tired of this slow pace; of this quarantined situation. Today, we must bring fresh air and relief to others. We cannot create problems and tensions just because of this situation. There are people who, instead of generating life, generate problems. Today we have to be Christians who clean and wash the feet; cheering up others; taking a deep breath and moving on. Let’s stop making trouble for no reason. Here we are going through a tremendous pandemic and we are concerned about silly things, like the color of the dress of the host on the program that we watch at night. Stop making up silly problems! Now, we need to be more united than ever. Let us value those who are striving to give us relief, and do not criticize them for nonsense. Let us seek to do good without looking at what others are doing …
2) They will be happy: how nice it is to remember this: happiness is when you share it with others. Being happy is not achieved by being selfish and narcissistic. Today you remember that you are living to be happy… but, no by being happy at the expense of another. Today God reminds you that the goal of this life is to be happy. Our goal goes far beyond what this pandemic is. Let’s go! I keep fighting, I keep walking, I keep smiling… I know this will pass and there is something I still have to do: Be happy.
3) Against me:
This is the figure of Judas. Of course there will always be people who are against us. There are those who would like to make our life more complicated; they want to trip us up, but remember your life does not depend on those people. Your life depends on your attitude and your decisions. A person can have power over you only if you give them that power. If you decide to allow a person to upset you or hurt you, you have given them the power. Sometimes we allow others to hurt us because it gives us an excuse to be a victim. Be careful ! You cannot control others. Jesus did not try to control Judas. You cannot control others, but you can control yourself; your attitude, and what you think about yourself. You can control your self esteem. Be strong !
God-bless you in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Remember heaven is our goal !
