Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Matthew 9,32-38
A demoniac who could not speak was brought to Jesus,
and when the demon was driven out the mute person spoke. The crowds were amazed and said, “Nothing like this has ever been seen in Israel.”
But the Pharisees said, “He drives out demons by the prince of demons.”
Jesus went around to all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom, and curing every disease and illness.
At the sight of the crowds, his heart was moved with pity for them because they were troubled and abandoned, like sheep without a shepherd.
Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is abundant but the laborers are few;
so ask the master of the harvest to send out laborers for his harvest.”
Help us speak
1) Jesus heals a mute person: The Lord heals a mute person, someone who cannot speak or express himself. Today the Lord wants to heal you and set you free, so you can express everything you live and feel. So many times, we are silent, and we don’t express what we feel and what is happening to us! This leads us to great pain and even an agonizing spiritual death. Remaining silent, being mute, can be a great danger in your life because it can kill your hopes and dreams. Today ask Jesus in prayer to take away your muteness.
2) Comments and criticism: For doing the right thing, Jesus receives comments and criticism from religious people in the area. Many times, people will talk about you for doing the right thing, but don’t stop because of what they might say. Continue to work for the good of others. Gossip is part of life, but as Christians, we must continue to do good without listening to remarks and idle talk.
3) Pray for vocations: There are times when I think that we are not aware of our need to pray for religious vocations. There are dioceses in which the priest has to do the impossible to reach all the communities. Today let’s pray that there may be more people who find their vocation to priesthood, and thus through our prayers, we will be able to help many young people who seek Jesus and want to serve the community in the name of Jesus.
