Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Luke 6,1-5
While Jesus was going through a field of grain on a sabbath, his disciples were picking the heads of grain, rubbing them in their hands, and eating them.
Some Pharisees said, “Why are you doing what is unlawful on the sabbath?”
Jesus said to them in reply, “Have you not read what David did when he and those (who were) with him were hungry?
(How) he went into the house of God, took the bread of offering, which only the priests could lawfully eat, ate of it, and shared it with his companions.”
Then he said to them, “The Son of Man is lord of the sabbath.”
Structuralism
1- Common Sense. If there is one sense that ceases to be common, it’s common sense. How many times, instead of making life easier and more enjoyable for others, do we complicate things? God does not want us to complicate our lives.
2. A fraternal Church. Our faith teaches us that we are invited to live a simple and easier life when He is at the center. When we start to complicate matters, we forget that God has called us to live a simple life with Him. We tend to go to extremes that hurt more than heal. We need to make the Church more fraternal, a family atmosphere where love abounds. Instead of judging others, look to Christ and love your brethren. They will know we are Christians through our love, not because of our lack of common sense.
3. It’s not allowed. We can fall into the temptation of being like policemen or customs officers, telling everyone what they “can” or “cannot” do or say. We should not check what those around us are doing all the time. Being God’s child involves walking in freedom and knowing oneself, accepting one’s limitations and needs. This is called maturity. It’s vital to understand how far I can go and how far I can’t, what I can do and what I can’t. Just being yourself and accepting God’s path for you is living in freedom and maturity.
