Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Mark 7, 31-37
Again Jesus left the district of Tyre
and went by way of Sidon to the Sea of Galilee,
into the district of the Decapolis.
And people brought to him a deaf man who had a speech impediment
and begged him to lay his hand on him.
He took him off by himself away from the crowd.
He put his finger into the man’s ears
and, spitting, touched his tongue;
then he looked up to heaven and groaned, and said to him,
“Ephphatha!”— that is, “Be opened!” —
And immediately the man’s ears were opened,
his speech impediment was removed,
and he spoke plainly.
He ordered them not to tell anyone.
But the more he ordered them not to,
the more they proclaimed it.
They were exceedingly astonished and they said,
“He has done all things well.
He makes the deaf hear and the mute speak.”
Do not be deaf and mute in life
1) Mute. We are referring to a neutral person. He cannot express specifically what he feels, what he experiences. In effect, he is mute. He cannot transmit with words what is happening to him and what he is thinking or feeling. This is exactly what destroys a person, to remain mute and not say what is happening inside.
2) Deaf. We are referring to the person who does not listen to others. You can be deaf when you are oblivious to what people are telling you. You do not understand others and your life revolves around yourself only. This leads you to not understand anyone. You are indifferent because you do not listen to what others have to say.
3) Be open. This is the miracle that God wants for your life. He wants you to open yourself to God, to others, and to everything life has to offer. Do not isolate yourself and be afraid of everything. Do not pretend to be deaf and instead listen to the person in front of you. Do not be mute and learn how to express what is inside of you. Do not be closed off – open yourself in order to fight through life. You are a miracle of God.
God bless you in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
Always remember Heaven is our Goal.
