Luke 10, 13-16

by Fr. Luis A. Zazano

Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Luke 10,13-16

Jesus said to them, “Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the mighty deeds done in your midst had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would long ago have repented, sitting in sackcloth and ashes.
But it will be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the judgment than for you.
And as for you, Capernaum, ‘Will you be exalted to heaven? You will go down to the netherworld.'”
Whoever listens to you listens to me. Whoever rejects you rejects me. And whoever rejects me rejects the one who sent me.”

Woe to you!

1) “If they had been done in another city”: Think about how many opportunities were and are given to you , but you still haven’t changed. Nobody but you and God know … And you continue in the same way; you have anesthetized yourself in this life. Come on, look at yourself, don’t lie to yourself because you have to be better; you have to seek perfection. Do not remain in mediocrity. I believe in you and many people believe in you. We know you can change… but don’t do it for me or for those of us who love you, do it for yourself.
2) “Whoever listens to you”: You are a Christian, you take Jesus to others. I’m not asking you to be pure and immaculate; what you and I have to do is bring words of comfort to others. Today people are sad and tired, they do not find answers. You and I may feel like this many times – time goes by and we have nothing. We just pay off debt after debt. Come on, you don’t live to pay bills. You live to give life!
3) “Reject”: Today, you have to help those around you. What if you take charge of making life more beautiful for those around you? If they reject you, that’s their problem. Well … are you making life more beautiful for those around you? What are you doing? Maybe today you can smile at someone or not be pessimistic, or even serve breakfast. Think about it; you have more ideas than I do.
God bless you in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. And don’t forget Heaven is our goal.
