Matthew 11, 11-15

by Fr. Luis A. Zazano

Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Matthew 11, 11-15

Jesus said, ‘Truly I tell you, among those born of women no one has arisen greater than John the Baptist; yet the least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he. From the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven has suffered violence, and the violent take it by force. For all the prophets and the law prophesied until John came; and if you are willing to accept it, he is Elijah who is to come. Let anyone with ears listen!’

To be great in small things

1)To be great. As Christians, we are called to live everyday life in greatness and not as victims; we are players of life who want to play the best match. And each day we need to face life and know how to deal with everything that comes at you. To be great is to make the effort, to be great is to rise when one falls. To be great is to trust in God and not in your own strength.

2)The violent ones. In your life you will encounter people that will harm you, they will try to break your peace of mind. They will seek to hurt you and destroy you. Today, Jesus reminds you of this. If you look at the history of Christianity, you will find that many Christians did not back down, and they knew how to overcome so much violence with peace of heart and God’s presence. If there are people in your life today who are violent towards you and want to bring out the worst in you, I recommend that you turn to yourself and show what gives you your identity. Do not become what they want you to be, do not let them turn you into a monster.

3) Elijah. Today you must be that Elijah who shows spirituality in this world, that there is a God who sees and acts. Be that prophet who enlightens those around you. In this life you and I want two things: to be happy and to make this world a little better.
God bless you in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Remember Heaven is our goal.
