Luke 6, 39-45

Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Luke 6, 39-45

Jesus told his disciples a parable,
“Can a blind person guide a blind person?
Will not both fall into a pit?
No disciple is superior to the teacher;
but when fully trained,
every disciple will be like his teacher.
Why do you notice the splinter in your brother’s eye,
but do not perceive the wooden beam in your own?
How can you say to your brother,
‘Brother, let me remove that splinter in your eye,’
when you do not even notice the wooden beam in your own eye?
You hypocrite!  Remove the wooden beam from your eye first;
then you will see clearly
to remove the splinter in your brother’s eye.

“A good tree does not bear rotten fruit,
nor does a rotten tree bear good fruit.
For every tree is known by its own fruit.
For people do not pick figs from thornbushes,
nor do they gather grapes from brambles.
A good person out of the store of goodness in his heart produces good,
but an evil person out of a store of evil produces evil;
for from the fullness of the heart the mouth speaks.”

A Tree Known by Its Fruit

1) You are not superior. Let it be clear to you that in this life no one is more than anyone else, nor less than anyone else, so it is important to respect others. And don’t forget that the path we walk along in life may be bumpy but also satisfying, there are times when one can believe that one is able to fight alone against the world. But don’t! Look at the cross, there is the greatest teaching of our teacher.
2) Hypocrite! There are times that you and I fall into hypocrisy, where we believe that we can judge everyone, and we do not forgive anyone. In the end, many times within the Church we end up being a nest of vipers or people who sour others’ life with their words and attitudes.
3) What is in you? The ultimate teaching of the gospel is that one expresses what is in one’s heart. If you are a good person, you transmit goodness. If you are evil, then you spread evil. How do you realize what type of person you are? Looking back and noticing what you have done.
God bless you in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Always remember, Heaven is our goal.
