Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Mark 7, 31-37
Jesus left the district of Tyre
and went by way of Sidon to the Sea of Galilee,
into the district of the Decapolis.
And people brought to him a deaf man who had a speech impediment
and begged him to lay his hand on him.
He took him off by himself away from the crowd.
He put his finger into the man’s ears
and, spitting, touched his tongue;
then he looked up to heaven and groaned, and said to him,
“Ephphatha!” (that is, “Be opened!”)
And immediately the man’s ears were opened,
his speech impediment was removed,
and he spoke plainly.
He ordered them not to tell anyone.
But the more he ordered them not to,
the more they proclaimed it.
They were exceedingly astonished and they said,
“He has done all things well.
He makes the deaf hear and the mute speak.”
Do not be deaf mute in life
1) Mute. He cannot express specifically what he feels or what he experiences because he is mute. He cannot transmit in words what is happening inside of him. This is what can destroy you, remaining mute and not saying what is happening inside of you.
2) Deaf. You can be deaf when you are oblivious to what people are telling you. You do not understand others and you revolve only around yourself. This leads you to not understand anyone. You are indifferent because you do not listen to what others have to say.
3) Be open. This is the miracle that God wants in your life. To open yourself to God, to others and to everything life has to offer. Do not isolate yourself and be afraid of everything. Do not pretend to be deaf. Instead, listen to the person in front of you. Do not be mute and express what you feel and think. Do not be closed off and open yourself in order to walk joyfully along the path of life. You are a miracle of God.
God bless you in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Always remember, Heaven is our Goal.
