Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Mark 8, 27-33
Jesus went on with his disciples to the villages of Caesarea Philippi; and on the way he asked his disciples, ‘Who do people say that I am?’ And they answered him, ‘John the Baptist; and others, Elijah; and still others, one of the prophets.’ He asked them, ‘But who do you say that I am?’ Peter answered him, ‘You are the Messiah.’ And he sternly ordered them not to tell anyone about him.
Then he began to teach them that the Son of Man must undergo great suffering, and be rejected by the elders, the chief priests, and the scribes, and be killed, and after three days rise again. He said all this quite openly. And Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him. But turning and looking at his disciples, he rebuked Peter and said, ‘Get behind me, Satan! For you are setting your mind not on divine things but on human things.’
Identity is what reminds you of your mission
1) Your story. It’s what nurtures your identity. Remember your history. Remember where you come from, your culture, your family, your language, Grandma’s food, those who fed you, those who took care of you when you were sick, those who suffered for you and those who had great hopes for you. Your story is a key element of your identity. Don’t lose your memory too fast. Reflect and remember. Look back and rediscover everything you have lived and everyone who has been with you.
2) Your outlook. This refers to where your goals are, what you want and where you are going. Set yourself small goals, daily and weekly goals to achieve a clear objective. You need to know what you want and how you feel about what you do and why you do it.
3) Your dream. This refers to what you dreamed of in the past and what you are dreaming of at present. Dreams are important because they give us hope. Dreams also help to forge your life. I encourage you to go back to your dreams. Do not be afraid to dream because dreaming can also solve things. Remember St Joseph, whose dreams solved great moments in the history of our salvation.
You are a Child of God, so look back at your life, your history, and then look up and rekindle your dream.
God bless you in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Never forget that Heaven is our goal.
